Here at The Urban Detailer we've been hearing rumous but now it's confirmed... There is a new breed of Mustang raring to gallop out of the stables. It's not a sleek 2 door coupe as we are all now accustomed to with the Mustang name (though Mustangs were available in different configurations in the past).
The new Mustang takes the form of a crossover SUV. As if that wasn't controversial enough, the Mustang Mach-E isn't powered by the 5.0L Coyote V8. Instead, the vehicle is a plug-in all electric vehicle.
Being electric, performance figures haven't been scrimped on, with 0-60mph in under 5 seconds. A full range of charge is claimed to take you 370 miles, beating the competiton from Tesla and Jaguar.
Visually, the Mustang Mach-E takes some inspiration from the new Mustang Fastback. The styling of the rear lights, sloped Fastback roof and long bonnet are all based on what we would perceive a Mustang to be. Allbeit in crossover form.
The interior looks strikingly similar to that of Tesla. Going for the simplistic look with a massive touch screen resembling an iPad stuck to the centre console. In the latest S550 Mustang we have come used to retro styling harking back to the steeds of the 60s and 70s. However, in this effort Ford have opted to go for an ultra modern and futuristic look.
Love it or hate it, this new electric SUV will be coming to us soon with a Mustang badge attached.
Let us know your thoughts, is it a real Mustang?
